Constantly bombarded with ‘Must have’ Cell Phones

Cell phones are one of the fastest changing areas of modern technology but this can confuse buyers who are constantly bombarded with new models and an ever increasing range of ‘must have’ functions. Strangely, there are some important but basic facts that many buyers of cell phones overlook in a rush to make their purchase which it is hope are dealt with below.

With the advancements in cell phone battery technology, batteries last much longer than they did when they were first invented but waiting until the last possible moment to recharge is not a good idea. Leaving the recharging to last minute like this over an extended period means that the battery will need to be replaced earlier than it ordinarily would and these cell phone batteries are quite expensive.

The backlight is the second biggest power drain of any cell phone but this can be either turned off or use the auto backlight of function if your phone is supplied with one. Some areas of the country always have poor signal strength and coverage but the cell phone will still try to find a signal but this uses up a great deal of power so if you find yourself in an areas like this, just turn off the phone until you are in an area of better reception.

So the more you talk, the quicker the phone battery will drain but this is also true for anytime it is connected to the Internet, downloading games for example or playing music. When downloading Web features, games, ring tones, wallpaper, and screensavers, be sure there are no recurring fees because some companies may not state it upfront but often these features have recurring monthly fees.

If you purchase a cell phone for your child, find out if you can block these features or find out if there’s a way that you as a parent can order features, but your child cannot. When buying a cell phone with a one or two year contract or pay-per use agreement, be sure to read the fine print and consider how many minutes you plan to use the cell phone each month.

Cell phone users who make regular calls will undoubtedly find a contact with a set amount of minutes the better of the two options available. Some phone features like tri band or quad band meaning they can be used in Europe and Asia will only be available with phones that are part of a long term agreement so look out for deals that will be of benefit.

Also with any plan, consider if long distance is included so find out the usual roaming charges, connection fees (if applicable), and if there are any other hidden fees in the plan. Many contracts come with a warranty for the phone because it is easy to loose or damage a phone that is carried everywhere and should something happen you will have the assurance of its replacement should anything untoward happen.
 

When buying cell phones online, be sure the phone is up-to-date and carries all the features you want then you can visit a local store to purchase minutes or to sign up for a contract but just be sure and buy from a company you trust.
